Sierra Atkins, a senior at UC Davis, won the women's 6-kilometer race in 19:52.5 at the Big West Conference Cross Country Championships at Blacklake Golf Resort in Nipomo, Calif. Atkins became the second straight UC Davis female athlete to secure the individual crown, following Brianna Weidler last season, and just the third in program history, along with Sarah Sumpter in 2009. Although Atkins, Weider and Dani Barrett took the top three spots for UC Davis, the Aggies placed runner-up as a team by a 39-58 margin behind host Cal Poly.
